my mental models

A key theme that’s been swirling in my mental landscape this past week is the concept of enduring discomfort in the short-term for my future self’s benefit. In the past few weeks I’ve struggled to stay mentally balanced amidst the myriad of side projects, social zoom gatherings, and professional endeavors that have flooded the time-abundant valley of shelter-in-place. These 3 concepts have helped me filter what is truly worthy of pursuing: The optionality fallacy, Seneca’s perspective on time, and Essentialism.

being still

Happy Monday! How’s everyone doing? 🙋🏻‍♀️For me, the initial shock of shelter-in-place and upheaval of life routines has gradually transitioned from a place of anger/denial into acceptance and meaning-making. It’s a contributing factor to why this newsletter is so important to me and why I’ve 4x’d my Zoom usage in an effort to bond with others and learn new things via virtual classes. However, by the weekend I was feeling overwhelmed and drained. In all the flurry to problem-solve away the collective grief of the world, I had put the proverbial cart before the horse.

my morning routine

How’s everyone doing? 💆🏻‍♀️As we enter into the 3rd week of quarantine, I hope everyone has settled into the present reality and has a good routine going for them. I’ve found that both starting and ending my days with a set of actions helps mitigate the illusion of days blurring quickly into weeks. In this post I share my morning and night routines, additional wellness links and resources that I’ve come across, and job boards.
